The Band - History
2001
It all began in 2001 when Joni Junnila and Teemu Hankanen entered the same high school class. It didn’t take long when they found out each other's music hobbies and a band was started. Naturally they needed more members to the band and so they asked Teemu's childhood friend Tomi Paronen to play the drums.
With this lineup Joni and Teemu (guitars) and Tomi (drums) got their first rehearsal place in Tomi’s “warehouse room”. The place was too small and travelling distances too long, so the new rehearsal place was asked from a high school music class. Rehearsals included Megadeth-covers and Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. The band needed a singer, so their singing voices were tested and they chose Teemu to be the singer.
2002
Soon they wanted to have some gigs but they needed a bass player, so in 2002 Jukka Jauhiainen, who was at the same class with Joni and Teemu, was asked to join the band. With this lineup they trained, but soon Tomi found the band project not interesting and left the band.
2003
A new drummer was searched for half a year and finally in the autumn of 2003 Joni, Teemu and Jukka asked a guy who had become familiar in the 8th class music lessons, Jonne Taavitsainen, to play the drums. From this moment the band started to play some more difficult music and they got a rehearsal place from Jonne’s “garage” (which had never included a car). In the autumn of 2003 the band had their first gig at the school’s “moped party”. After the first gig they took “Lucretia” for the band’s name. Before this the band had been anonymous. With this lineup there were two more gigs: at Hamina “Raittiustalo” and Night of the Lights event (Valojen Yö).
